The excitement begins as you board a catamaran ferry for a scenic ride through the Lynn Canal connecting Skagway and Haines. Along the way your guide will share the natural history of the inner water passageway while you keep an eye out for humpback whales, harbor seals, and bald eagles.
Once in Haines you will take a seaside drive to Chilkoot Lake State Park where you will arrive at the lake and enter your sea kayak. New to kayaking? Not a problem! Your experienced guide will outfit you with the proper gear, show you the basics, and have you paddling like a pro in no time.
Savor the stillness as you glide across the pristine lake, noting the waterfalls cascading off the lush, green forested cliffs. Each month brings something new for visitors to the lake, from wildflowers, bald eagles and sockeye salmon (June and July) to brown bears that come to the water's edge to feed (August and September).
